Open Call for passionate chefs and foodies alike

We are finally doing it; this month we placed an ad in the local Edible East End publication in an effort to recruit new members to the Hamptons Chef Society. We created the idea to have a true chefs group in the Hamptons that spoke for the locals that were here all year-long. I was inspired to do so by a visit to the North Fork Synagogue’s farm tour the weekend before. I thought what a cool idea to get everybody working together. It would be a good thing to perhaps get the word out with bio’s on our member, their philosophy on their work and their passion’s as well coming to support one another as we strive to sustain and promote the goodness the east end has to offer.

Join us to create a mutually supportive group of open-minded foodies, chefs, writers, farmers, and winos? Give me a shout, let’s talk, we have so much to say and so much to give. Welcome to Hampton’s Chef Society. Contact me at hamptonschef@icloud.com

Grow Fresh Herbs right in your kitchen

I live in an 1800 sq foot 2 bedroom house in a very nice neighborhood in the Hamptons. The house I work in is an 18,000 sq foot house in a very nice neighborhood in the hamptons as well, that is 10 times the size of my home 12 miles away. So there is plenty of room right in the kitchen. I can’t understand why some chef’s I see have the herb garden they are tending to outside. I mean I can see if you have like a potted plant or small garden around the house or a patch outside the kitchen with some herbs or chives or something. But I can’t see a chef with all the work we have to do especially in the summer months going out and tilling and planting their own vegtables and herbs. If they really do it and enjoy it and have time then more power to them. My impression of it is that they do it for the story being written about them or the picture in the magazine. For this in my 18000 sq. ft. beautiful home that my employer has provided the luxury of allowing me to work in. I have found a simple solution that makes sense all around. It is these beautiful herb boxes that I picked right down the block at Marders. So now instead of walking 1000 ft. to the yard I can simply cut my herbs and be back at my stove in seconds. Not that I don’t the exercise. Just a note both boxes and the herbs ran me about $150 not bad for a lifetime of fresh herbs.
